About the proprietorMy name is Jeroen Janmaat, and I am an engineer and researcher by trade. This website acts as a reflection of some of my interests, and I use it to illustrate the things I am working on in my free time. As such it is always under construction! Nevertheless I hope that visitors may find something of use here. If you do (or don't) and would like to comment, you might consider sending a message to deblauweschicht (at) gmail (dot) com. Whence De Blauwe Schicht?De Blauwe Schicht is the alias of the blue 1986 Citroën 2CV that has been in my possession from 1998 to 2014; an elegant vehicle for a more civilized age. Its name is derived from a Dutch series of comic books, in which Olivier B. Bommel drives a vehicle named de Oude Schicht. The latter provides the protagonist with a dependable and elegant means of transport; my 2CV did that too, except it was blue. An interesting factoid is that at some point so many parts of De Blauwe Schicht have been replaced that it could be considered a rolling version of the grandfather's axe. ProfessionallyMy topics of interest in working life are (acoustic) remote sensing, hardware and software engineering (notably for data-acquisition purposes), and marine technology and autonomous systems in general.
